Received a message from Joost. Last week he was on altitude training period in Serfaus, mainly to ski. It's one of his last preparations before the "real thing". He's looking the challenge straight into the eye.
In April 2010, a group of 10 people will conduct an expedition to the North Pole. All of these expeditioners are active professionals with busy agendas who have a passion for the outdoor and nature. They have collectively decided to make time for a long process of physical and mental preparation in order to head out for the North Pole, the point where the Earth’s rotation meets the Earth's surface.
For all of us, heading for the top of the world will also be an opportunity to confront Mother Nature at her roughest and contemplate on what is real, meaningful and worth pursuing in today’s day and age. Polar expeditions require a combination of mental attitude, physical stamina and social skills.
On this blog you can follow the group's preparation, together with my personal experiences of this adventure.
